In this 5-hour strategy, students build their personal brand’s identity system by creating a stationery set. Students dive into their personal brands by creating a logo intended to act as a visual synonym for their unique skills. Before designing the best possible mark, students research, conceptualize, investigate alternatives, the select and refine their logo.
Using Adobe Illustrator, students design their own letterhead, envelope, and business card and place their new logo on these materials. Not only is this good practice for students who may have similar professional projects that students may work on once they’ve landed that job, a cohesive, branded stationery gives any application a polished and professional look.
This strategy was created by Amaris Ketcham, an Associate Professor of interdisciplinary liberal arts at the University of New Mexico Honors College.
